SATO, Shimako
佐藤嗣麻子, b. 1964 (Mizusawa, Iwate)
- attended the Asagaya College of Art and Design
- studied filmmaking at the London Film School (1987)
- made a series of low budget horror films in the 1990s
- her debut feature film Warlock: Tale of a Vampire (1992) starred Julian Sands
- her 1995 film Wizard of Darkness won the Minami Toshiko Award at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival (1995)
- her biggest successes has been as a TV scriptwriter and director in the 2000s and 2010s. Most notably on the hit TV series Unfair (アンフェア) about a hard-boiled female police detective (Ryoko Shinohara). The series was also adapted into a series of movies.
