- began directed TV documentaries for Nippon Audio-Visual Productions on themes such as war, drugs, and drug poisoning
- became a freelance documentary journalist in 1985
- since turning freelance she has directed more than 50 TV documentaries
- co-directed Afghan Spring (1989) with Noriaki Tsuchimoto
- A Tale of Two Neighbourhoods - From Ottensen to Mukojiima (1995) is based on her own experiences raising children
- Women Make Films (2004) follows the struggle of female directors in Japan
