MARCANTONIO Luigia

Luigia Marcantonio (ca 1871 - 1935) was probably born in Picinisco, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy. She was the second child of Gesidio Marcantonio (1840 - 1886) and Maria Mancini (ca 1847 - 1905).

Luigia probably arrived in Norwich in the mid 1880s with her mother and siblings to join her father and sister Elisabetta who had arrived in the late 1870s.

On 2 November 1886 her father died in Ipswich, on his way back from Italy, and Elisabetta, the eldest daughter, took charge of the family.

On the 1891 census the Marcantonios lived at 3 Boarded Entry Yard, Ber Street (between numbers 54 - 58). Luigia was a musician. In 1889 Elisabetta had married Luigi Capaldi and they lived at 33 Crawfoot Yard, Ber Street (between numbers 27 - 29).

Luigia married Domenico Parravani (1870 - 1947) on 30 November 1891 at St John Maddermarket Catholic chapel. Their address was 3 Boarded Entry Yard and they were both musicians. The witnesses were Giovanni Margiotta and Maria Marcantonio, Luigia's mother.

Luigia and Domenico had 6 children: Francis (1892 - 1892), Loreto (1893 - 1927), Congetta (1897 - 1965), Andonetta (1899 - 1900), Antonio (1901 - 1938) and Marianna (1904 - 1966).

From 1897 the family lived at 4 Boarded Entry Yard but by 1904 they had moved to 69 Ber Street. By 1911 they lived at 89 Ber Street and by 1922 the address was 91 Ber Street.

Domenico had a fruiterer's, and later he was a confectioner.

Luigia died of auricular fibrillation on 22 November 1935 at 91 Ber Street, Norwich. She was buried at the Earlham Cemetery.
