ANDREAZZI Domenico

Domenico Andreazzi (c.1838 - 1900) was born in Bellinzona, Ticino, Switzerland. (1) His father was Carlo Andreazzi, a farmer. (2)

Domenico probably arrived in Norwich in the late 1860s or early 1870s. On 2 April 1871 he was a lodger in St Faith's lane, St Peter Per Mountergate, Norwich, and worked as a confectioner.(3) Domenico married Catherine Webster at Calvert Street Methodist chapel on 25 December 1872. He was a cook and lived at Timberhill, St John Timberhill, Norwich.(4) They had two children: Domenico (1874 - 1874) and Catherine Mary (1874 - 1900).(5) Catherine died in the first quarter of 1875 and a year and a half later Domenico married her sister Elizabeth, on 2 September 1876.(6) Seven children were born: Carlo (1877-1878), Alice (1878- ), Rosa (1881- ), Annie (1883- ), Beatrice (1884-1885), Beatrice (1886- ) and Elizabeth (1887- ).(7)

On 3 April 1881 the Andreazzis were living at 25 St Bartholomew Street. St John Sepulchre, Norwich. Domenico was still working as a confectioner.(8) By 1883 he was running a refreshment room at 2 Lower Goat Lane. William White's 1883 Directory of Norfolk also mentioned Bridge Street and Brigg's Street.(9) The Andreazzis were living at Lower Goat Lane on 4 April 1891.(10) In 1896 the refreshment room at Lower Goat Lane was still open. In the same year Domenico Andreazzi was also registered at 83 Mill Hill Road.(11) He died on 15 March 1900 and after a service at St John Baptist Catholic church on 16 March, he was buried at the Earlham Road Cemetery.(12) Elizabeth died on 24 January 1933 in Norwich and was buried with Domenico.(13)
