First....I have put up a photo of what a piece looks like with just the glued-down pieces, so you can see the variety of items.
NOW.....Let's Talk about COLOR. In my first paintings of the year I decided to be more intentional, picking 2 colors for the first layer: light blue violet and either Apricot (which looks more yellow) or portrait pink. I did "drawing" dabbing and such of leafs/dots, etc. For the top coat, which defines the figures, I chose one of the dark colors I normally use, and wrote it on the back of the piece. That way I can see how the bottom colors "react" with the top color and can then chose similarly going forward.
Later in the year I realized I've never intentionally done a "green" painting. Yes, blues and yellows, which can result in green, but I needed to focus on green itself.
Finally, I have to mention, that I lost focus completely by fall because my little dog, STELLA, had cancer and I was giving her all my attention. Her cancer spread rapidly in November and I had to let her go. Painting has been in fits and starts since then.
