In January 2007, Abbie Crawford and 15 women packed their first shipment of 960 cookies in Abbie's kitchen. Word quickly spread and the Iowa Cookie Crumbs now have over 180 bakers on three baking teams. We have sent out over one million three hundred eighty thousand cookies to marines, soldiers, airmen and sailors. These boxes are addressed to a specific serviceman or servicewoman at an APO (Army and Air Force), or FPO (Navy and Marine) number and are sent via U.S. Postal Service. Names and addresses for those serving from our local communities are accepted along with names submitted via Jeanette Cram's treatthetroops website.
Every other month the Iowa Cookie Crumbs send 60-65 boxes containing over 6,000 cookies along with comfort items and letters of support to servicemen and women. We operate solely on donations and postage costs in 2019 were over $15,700.00. Postage donations are gratefully accepted.
