Ethical Misconducts in various Buddhist Traditions

Hawaii Association of International Buddhists is presenting a panel discussion on the topic of "Ethical Misconducts in various Buddhist Traditions).

Time: Friday 7 December 2018, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Place: Chaminade University, Ching Conference Center

Cost: Free (Donation to HAIB accepted)

Panelists:

Thervada

Devon Hase: began intensive meditation training in 2001. After spending nearly a decade as a classroom teacher of high school and community college students, she entered a two-year period of retreat. Following this, Devon was invited by Joseph Goldstein to be part of the IMS teacher training cohort, an honor she gratefully accepted. Currently, Devon coaches meditators on the 10% Happier app, assists retreats at IMS and Spirit Rock, and leads mindfulness and meditation workshops with her husband.

Mahayana/Zen

Nikos Leverenz: was born and raised in Honolulu and has been a dharma practitioner since 2009. He served on the board of Sacramento Buddhist Meditation Group for four years. Before returning to Hawaii he was a resident at Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe. He currently practices with the Honolulu Diamond Sangha and works in the nonprofit sector.

Vajrayana/Tibetan

Lila Pineda: was born and raised in the San Francisco area of California and currently is a member of the Kailua Shambhala Meditation Center. Lila has worked and volunteered in multiple organizations involving in crisis service, holistic health, and natural resource. She currently works in end of life pre-planning as a community advisor for Valley of the Temple in Kaneohe.
