Acoustic vs Electric

Both styles of instrument will give you a way to create music that inspires you. People are drawn to either sound and many enjoy both styles of instruments to use in the different genres of music they enjoy playing. With an acoustic you have the traditional set up with the option of adding a 'pick up' to allow you the flexibility of plugging in your instrument into an amplifier. With an electric instrument you can choose one that has a solid body that requires an amplifier to hear the instrument when played or a hollow body that still has some natural amplification that comes from the instrument itself without a plug in system.

In class we primarily use acoustic instruments. When we have special pieces like; Star Wars, Michael Jackson, Imagine Dragons music, we add in some electric instruments. This gives us a way to complement the drum set, guitar and piano that might be required for the music we are learning and performing. We try and allow for exposure to electric in each grade so students have a fuller appreciation for all string music. There are so many ways to play great music!
