Dasia bauri, a great devotee of lord jagannath, was born in a village called Baligaon near puri. He was a weaver by profession and of low caste. He spent most of his time in writing bhajans . It so happened that once Dasia forgot to pay attention to his wife's needs and kept himself busy in writing bhajans. His wife used to serve him the food available and remained without food . After 4 days she complained that he is not caring for herself . Dasia felt guilty knowing that his wife had nothing to take for the last 4 days as she used to serve the available food to him only.Dasia was execeptional in suggesting that ,she may leave dasia and remarry anyone as Dasia could not feed her. His wife was equally exceptional telling that Dasia is her God and she would like to die serving her God.

The next moment somebody knocked at his door. The village head came and offered him some money and rice as advance to order for a cloth for Rathyatra visit. Dasia was thankful to the lord saying that lord jagannath came to help him in need via the village head.
