Thousands of devotees have preached the supremacy of lord Jagannath once and again.
One such devotee is Govind Das of Uttarakhand. He, along with his five children lived in a well- to- do family. He was Very much pious and humble.
Once Govind Das thought of giving all social responsibilities to his sons & daughter in -law. Thereafter it so happened that the sons became selfish and did not take care of the parents. On the advice of one of the friends of Govind Das, the mother stayed at home and Govind Das planned for a pilgrimage leaving behind a tin box .He told to open and share it only after the death of the mother. Thinking that Govind Das has kept a lot of gold for them, the sons took their every care. Time passed and Govind Das's wife died and Govind Das started for pilgrimage. The sons opened the trunk and found nothing except stones inside the box. Govind Das started for Jagannathdham and after walking long path fell half- conscious on the way and being unable to walk more, prayed Lord Jagannath to help. The Lord God was so kind that He at once appeared before him, embraced Govind Das and blessed him to take him to Jagannathdham.
Govind Das stayed at jagannathdham for the rest of his life.
