Thousands of devotees have preached the supremacy of

lord Jagannath once and again.One such devotee is Balaka

Ramadas.Ramdas was a devotee of lord jagannath and was on

pilgrimage.He once reached the jagannathdham (Puri) in

course of his pilgrimage. He saw various vaktas(Devotees)

worshipping various deities in jagannathdham (Puri).

He disliked the idea as he was of the firm view that it is the

abode of the almighty God (lord jagannath)who is

worthworshiping . So he called all of them to preach about lord

Jagannath. Some of them did not like the idea and went against

him.The two sects of brahmins i.e. smartos(a sect of brahmins)

and vaishnabos including others were of different views on the

supremacy of lord Jagannath. They put Balak Ramdas to a

test and made it conditional to accept his view as right only if

he wins the challange. Planning so, they brought a dead body

of a boy and told Balaka Ramdas to make it alive by the grace

of the almighty Jagannath. Balaka Ramdas prayed lord

Jagannath begging for mercy to save him. He embrassed the

dead body and whispered the eternal name of lord Jagannath

in the ear of the dead body . And see ! the boy woke up to

everybody's surprise to prove the supremacy of lord God

jagannath.
