Jai jagannath

The charisma & supremacy of lord jagannath have been proved by thousands of devotees once and again. One such devotee is Gangadhar of Govindpur . He wasa poor bania(goldsmith) but a pious person with enormous devotion for lord jagannath. The family had no issues. The society humiliated them for this.Once it so happened that the wife suggested to adopt a son. Gangadhar went to a learned brahmin for advice. The brahmin advised him to visit puri.At Puri the bania found nobody to his help and sat on the 22 pahacha praying god & slept there. He dreamt of lord Gurumdi Gopal as his son. He went to chitrakar street and found a similar pratima and bought it. He gave it to his wife. Both were happy having god jagannath as their son. They used to take care of the pratima as their real son. People saw it and thought them to be mad. Once Gangadhar went outside for business. The wife was alone. Gangadhar returned with a lot of toys & on the village road slipped down. He cried aloud calling kalia(Jagannath) and was dead. The wife heard it and cried with Govind at her lap. She asked Govinda what to do now. The God replied , "mother, father is not dead, he is asleep ,go and bring him leaving me alone". The wife reached there and told him to wake up as the son is alone and crying. See. Gangadhar woke up calling back Govinda. Both reached home, embraced the pratima. Jagannath. The pratima told "I am your son and have no fear". Then they found the son no more there. Not finding their son ,Govind the family decided to sacrifice their lives in burning flames. All of a sudden the lord God with maa laxmi appeared ,took the couple on their lap and blessed them with salvation.
