How to add pictures in your Buzz posts

A Buzz post looks better and more engaging if it has small pictures at bottom. Let’s see all the ways to add them when you publish a Buzz post within Gmail.

If you don’t want to deal with picture files, you will have to deal with urls (web pages or objects addresses):

  • When you insert in the text box the url of a web page that contains pictures, the Buzz parser adds the link to the page at the end of the post (you can remove it) and propose you to insert miniatures of the pictures in the page. If you insert pictures that way, in the published post, a click on those pictures will open the corresponding web page.
  • But you can also use any picture you’ve found on the web. Just try to find the source of the picture, the web page it is displayed on, and right-click on it to copy its url (its web address). You can then drop/paste that url in the new Buzz text box so the parser adds a small version of the picture to your post. You just have to remove the url from the text and it’s done.
  • Beware that if the original picture is moved or deleted, it won’t show any more in your post. A click on the miniature on the published post opens the full size picture in a new tab.

If you are ok with picture files and know how to create or change or just save them in your computer, them you will certainly like a way to show your creations. When you click in the form field to initiate a new Buzz post and then click on the “Photo” link at bottom, you are give two choices:

  • You can directly upload picture files from your PC hard drive. They will be stored in a dedicated album (“Photos from posts”) in your automatically created Picasa Web account.
  • But you can also pre-upload your pictures to Picasa Albums Web and manage them your way, and then you have the choice to peak any pictures in any public or semi-private albums to add them to your posts.

A click on the small size picture in the published post will show a slide show of the full size pictures over a darkened Gmail UI.

Note: There are other ways to create a Buzz post that insert pictures too (sharing from Picasa, Flickr, Reader or from the web), but in those cases you don't decide which pictures are inserted or have less flexibility on other aspects of the post.
