GO4ST8 Meeting 9-14-2013

Join your colleagues for the first meeting of the school year. The September 14th meeting of GO4ST8 Physics will have an uncommon theme for GO4ST8. Topics usually revolve around a specific physics concept or a sub-­‐field of physics principles; the meeting on September 14th is Food Science, Physics, and Chemistry.

Some quick highlights:

• Use Twinkies and licorice to calculate forces, pressure, spring constants and modulus of elasticity.
• Make popcorn to study energy transfers.
• Using baking soda and citric acid to carbonate any beverage.
• End the meeting with a tour of a local brewery.

In addition to the topics above, Sam Terfa of Minnehaha Academy brought in some Lego Robots with a neat kinematics activity.
