Saturday, September 8th, GO4ST8 Physics will meet from 9 to noon at Minnetonka High School. Meetings during the 2018 – 2019 school year will focus on methods and techniques in “Communicating Physics” to students. Physics teachers want students to improve conceptual understanding, problem solving skills, making real-world connections, the ability of using multiple representations for situations, etc. Throughout the year GO4ST8 Physics meetings will emphasize different approaches to create discourse on “Communicating Physics.”
This meeting will have a familiar constant velocity – constant acceleration lab preformed, data collected and analyzed using four different scenarios: an AP classroom, a CIS classroom, a modeling classroom, and a traditional classroom. An outcome of the meeting would be a discussion of good technical communication skills. The idea is to discuss the skills in small groups and bring to large group using white boards.
The Valleyfair GO4ST8 Physics milk carton race winning entry from North Branch High School will receive the traveling trophy for the year.
All persons interested in physics education are invited and welcome to this meeting. This is an opportunity to meet and network with physics teachers throughout the state of Minnesota.
We will talk about finances after this meeting.
