April 19, 2011

Kicked off with an interactive session focused on Getting to Know Each Other led by Jeff Richardson. Two aspects of building the kollaboration network is

A) expand connections by reaching out and initiating new connections

B) strengthen relationships through meaningful dialog and self disclosure

Trust is a KEY component in building our K-Cubed Konsultancy, so we discussed how we can leverage our strengths to build trusting partnerships. Referenced the Thin Book of Trust (http://www.thinbook.com/pages/books/trust_book.htm)

4 Components of Trust to focus on (ref in collaboration framework too)

1. Competence - capacity, skill, knowledge & resources to do what you propose

2. Sincerity - honest; your actions will align with your words

3. Reliability - you make and meet commitments

4. Care - you have other person's interests in mind (partners and clients)

March 2010

Wonderful quarterly event last week! I really enjoyed the opportunity to meet with many of you - we had 16 people at the last event. (or 15 - one person wrote me the next day saying "Oh, was that yesterday?" Name has been withheld to protect the innocent. ; - )

Key outcomes:

1. Regardless of ALC involvement, we pretty much agreed that we'd like to keep doing these events in order to renew, refresh, and enjoy the camaraderie of other consultants.

2. We're committed to exploring possibilities for helping each other, for example by having some people do biz dev for others, and paying each other with referral fees.

3. Kimberly intends to pursue work (selling leadership and management programs) with Japanese companies in the US, and has leads at several local offices that she is actively exploring.

NEXT EVENT: Depending on schedules, we're looking at Friday, June 25 or Friday, July 29. Please check your calendars and hold the dates if you plan to attend. Final date TBD by May 1.

TOPIC: We're considering a couple different ones, including . . .

. . . Betty Jo Waxman + Michael Landers leading us in their "Sales Empowerment Program", something quite a few of us could benefit from based on comments made at the last event like "I don't like to sell!"

. . . Jim Bandrowski's Amplitude model.

We got some Plus/Delta feedback from the last event. Summary:

PLUS - What worked?

- Willingness and enthusiasm of participants

- Concept of the gathering

- Full house!

- Exercises were planned - seeing it in action

- See the real thing

- Focused theme of what Financial Scenario Analysis has become

- Agenda

- Shared facilitation duties across the day

- Kept to schedule

DELTA - Change to make even better

- Bigger graphics on screen - need projector and screen vs. TV (Juan has projector, Kimberly has a screen)

- Sometimes the pace lags - wish we had moved faster through content

- Kimberly worried that we goofed around too much, but it was mostly too much of HER goofing around, so next time other people need to goof around more and she needs to behave.
