Adam came as part of the Waikato Immigration scheme to New Zealand, he travelled on the dauntless and arrived in New Zealand on the 15th May 1865, by this time the Waikato scheme had collapsed due to a lack of money. the Settlers were put in Transit camps initially, at some stage in the next few years Adam met Harriet and they were married at Whangarei on 3rd August 1867. We are nit sure what Adam did in those intervening years, he may have worked on a farm in the Waikato Heads area.
