John married Sarah EGGARTON about 1774 and they had seven children. Sarah's parents are not known. She was born between 1750-1760 and died in 1845, aged about 90 years.
John served as a Private in the 2nd North Carolina Battalion, 10th Regiment during the Revolutionary War. After the War, he served as a State Representative during the NC Provincinal Congress.

Born the youngest of seven children to John and Sarah (EGGARTON) TILGHMAN on 6 JAN 1792 in Jones County, NC. The family surname seems to have changed spelling in this generation.
Joseph TILLMAN served as an Ensign in the 5th Georgia District Militia during the War of 1812. He operated a toll bridge on the Canoochee River, and served as a State Senator from Tattnall County, GA.
Married Catherine CHEWNING on March 17th, 1816 by James TILLMAN in Bulloch County, GA. Catherine was born 23 FEB 1796 in Jones County, NC to Samuel CHEWNING and Mary JACKSON. See the CHEWNING Family page for more details about Catherine's ancestry.
Catherine died 10 SEP 1830 in Tattnall County, GA and is buried in the Tillman Cemetery, near the Canoochee River. On 2 JUN 1831 Joseph married Cassandra Carter EVERETT (b. 12 SEP 1812 Bulloch County).
Joseph died 5 MAY 1845 at age 53 in Tattnall County, GA and is buried in the Canoochee family cemetery. Following his death, Cassandra TILLMAN moved to Thomas County, GA where she died on 4 OCT 1864 at age 52.
