2. John ECKOLLS, (c1650 - c1712)

John ECKOLLS was bc 1650 in England. He immigrated between 1680 and 1710 to Caroline County, VA. John married Mary CAVE, daughter of John CAVE and Elizabeth TRAVERS, in 1688. John ECKOLLS dc 1712 in Lunenburg County, VA.

John and Mary ECKOLLS/ECHOLS had eight children:

1. Eleanor ECHOLS - See the next section.
2. Elizabeth ECHOLS - m. William MURPHY
3. John ECHOLS - b before 1700 King & Queen County, VA, he left Virginia as a young man and settled in the lower part of NC and raised a family. He died circa 20 Dec 1750 at Beaufort County, NC.
4. Abraham ECHOLS - bc 1700 King & Queen County, VA, married Sarah TAMER. He died circa 3 Oct 1749 Lunenburg County, VA.
5. Joseph ECHOLS - bc 1704 King & Queen County, VA. Joseph suffered from "the asthma which prevented him from lying down. He never lay down for forty years - had an instrument made that fitted his forehead and say and slept" [sic]. He died on 24 Jun 1776 at Halifax County, VA having never married.
6. William ECHOLS - m. Sarah TURNER. He was born at King & Queen County, VA. He died circa Apr 1771 at Halifax County, VA.
7. Ann ECHOLS - m. George MARCHBANKS, she died circa 21 Nov 1740 Amelia County, VA.
8. Richard ECHOLS/ECKHOLLS - bc 1706 at King & Queen County, VA, he m. Catherine "Caty" EVANS in 1728. He died on 15 Jan 1778 at Pittsylvania County, VA.

3. Eleanor ECHOLS, (c1680 - 1771)

Eleanor ECHOLS/ ECKHOLLS was born circa 1680 King & Queen County, VA. She married Nicholas GILLINGTON, son of John GIRLINGTON and Margaret DUCKETT. See the GILLINGTON Family Page for information about their family.
