The Abbot of Egleston claimed damages because Waleran depastured his cattle on the Abbot's land at Egleston in the 33rd year of Henry III between 28 Oct 1248 and 27 Oct 1249.

Thomas was born in 1275, and married Sabella ASKEBY, daughter of Gilbert de ASKEBY.
In the 30th year of King Edward I (1304), Thomas claimed damages against Robert do Wycliffe for detaining his cattle. In 1306, Robert de Wycliffe claimed damages against Thoms for detaining his cattle.

John served as High Sheriff of Lancashire. He was an ardent Roman Catholic and supported Charles I in the English Civil War. He was Major General in the Cavalier forces. John died in 1645, slain at the Battle of Melton Mobray.
John GIRLINGTON was born on 9 Jul 1637, and married Margaret DUCKETT, daughter of James DUCKETT and Magdalen CURWEN.

18. Nicholas GILLINGTON/GUILLENTINE, (1676 - 1773)
Nicholas was born in 1676 at Thurland Castle, near Tunstall, Lancashire, England. This is an incredibly long life for someone of this era, and so this obviously bears investigating. [I am unclear how the family regained the castle, which had been damaged during England's Civil War].
Nicholas married Eleanor ECHOLS, daughter of John ECKHOLLS and Mary CAVE.
Nicholas GUILLENTINE left England for the American Colonies sometime in the early 1700s. In 1713, he purchased 200 acres about a mile back in the woods from Powell's ford in St. Margaret's Parish, Caroline County, VA.
Nicholas may have second married Eleanor RICKETTS, daughter of James RICKETTS and Ann.
Nicholas GUILLENTINE and his son-in-law John CHISUM began having land dealings together by mid-century.
Nicholas GUILLENTINE wrote a will on 21 Oct 1772 at Halifax County, VA, where he died about 8 Jan 1773 at Halifax County, VA. His estate was probated on 29 Nov 1773 (Value of Estate: £36 10 pence; 1 Negro woman slave).
