If you have looked at Generators you will find a huge variation in prices especially in the smaller generators.
The Inverter type of Generators are a lot more expensive. If you use your generator a lot with a much smaller load than it is rated for then the price difference will pay back fairly quickly in fuel savings. If most of your generator use is over 50% of the rating of the generator then the fuel savings will not be as large.

As you get into larger generators the price gap between Inverter Generators and Conventional gets even larger. I believe this is because there are a lot of inverters made in lower wattages than there are for high watt situations.
Projecting your generator use is important if you are to end up with what you need.
