Briggs and Stratton was late to the game of building Inverter generators but when they got in the game they did a great job. Their first attempt is Model 30473 which is a 1600 Watt generator with 2000 starting watt capacity.

The feedback on the 1600 watt Briggs inverter generator has been very good. I have checked a couple of places online and most people claim it takes 3 or four pulls to start it the first time out of the box but after that it usually starts first pull every time.
The 1600 has enough power to start and run most refrigerators, freezers, and almost any power tools from weed eaters to electric chain saws. Also it will run most compressors. Most of the heavier motors that you can run with this will work best if you do not run anything else at the same time. For example if you are running your table saw and the compressor kicks on you will probably blow the breakers.
The quality of this generator is definitely in the same range as the Yamaha and Hondas except it is usually significantly less expensive. This definitely ranks as a best buy in the under $1000 portable mid size inverter generators.
