The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins:

Imagine a society where the government controls everything that you do. Would you like it if every year children were selected to compete in a tournament to the death? This awesome trilogy is filled with action, and The Hunger Games has been made into a movie.  Catching Fire comes out this November.

Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth:

Beatrice Prior must make a decision—one that will change the course of her life forever. On Choosing Day each year, 16-year-olds across dystopian Chicago must devote themselves to one of five factions, each committed to the cultivation of a particular virtue.  Regardless of her choice, Beatrice must be careful not to divulge a secret she has been warned to keep—a secret that can unravel society as she knows it.

The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak:

It is 1939 in Nazi Germany. Liesel Meminger lives outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky:

Charlie is a wallflower -- someone who is just trying to get out of high school alive. With family drama, new friends, ex-friends, and first dates, high school appears to be quite the roller coaster. A great book about growing up, highlighting both the good and the not-so-good parts.

Beastly by Alex Flinn:

Kyle Kingsbury, a handsome, selfish young man, judges everyone based on looks. When he intentionally humiliates a strange young woman at the Homecoming Dance, she curses him by taking away his looks and turning him into a frightening manifestation of his beastly inner self. Kyle must find a way to live as a Beast until he can break the spell. He has two years to find a girl to love him despite his looks and to learn to love her back. If he cannot, he will remain a Beast forever.
