My Eagle Scout project consisted of refurbishing the Concession Stand at Manalapan High School. The Concession Stand is used as a fundraising tool for the High School. Food and refreshments are sold at the Football games and various other sporting events. The proceeds from the concession stand are donated back to the High School for scholarships, athletic and academic awards, uniforms and for team requests. Throughout the years the small building had become old, with broken, peeling, faded white walls, leaking ceiling, and a floor that was chipped and uneven. We had to replace various drywall areas, spackle, sand and paint all the walls and the ceiling. We used bright colors, blue, red and white, the school colors, to paint the interior walls. The floor was also cleaned, sanded and painted gray. The Troop helped me install a cash register shelf. Not only did we scrape and paint the entire inside of the building, we also scraped and painted the outside white trim along the top of the structure. The whole outside of the red building was power-washed. It was a lot of hard work and all of the scouts in the troop did a great job helping me to complete this project. The Concession Stand is now cleaned, repaired, brightly painted and ready to be used for fundraising at Manalapan High School!
Currently, I am a senior attending Manalapan High School. Next year, I plan to attend a four year university majoring in business administration. My favorite activity growing up has always been soccer. Through out the years I have played recreational as well as travel soccer with the Manalapan Soccer Club. I played soccer at the Manalapan – Englishtown Middle School as well as on the High School Freshmen, JV and Varsity Teams. I was a captain of the JV Team and a starter on the Varsity Team. My extracurricular activities involve the Spanish club, Special Strides, and Team Challenge. Throughout the year, I have been a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. I have assisted patients with their food selections, delivered their meals, and washed dishes in the hospital kitchen. For the past few years, my job responsibilities have included working as a Recreational Soccer Referee and a Travel Soccer Referee for Manalapan Soccer Club. This summer, I began working at Top Tomato Grocery Store in Freehold, as a cashier, which I continue to do part-time. During my many years with Boy Scout Troop 18, I have completed the requirements of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, and now Eagle. I have earned twenty one merit badges in my scouting career. I have been an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and now an Adult Leader. My Eagle Scout project was to refurbish the Concession Stand at Manalapan High School. It is a freestanding building which is used to sell food and refreshments. The money collected is then used for student scholarships, academic and athletic awards, uniforms and team requests. My Eagle Scout project will benefit the students of Manalapan High School for many years. It was a way for me to give back to my school. As an Adult Scout, I plan to continue my involvement with the Boy Scouts of Troop 18, the Parish of Saint Rose of Lima Church, and Manalapan High School.
