Images, Layers, Filters and Brushes...Oh my! 100 points

We have been preparing for the Adobe Certified Associate exam and are feeling pretty confident, GREAT! Your next challenge is to make a multilayer Ps project that is similar to the "Digital" image above. Similar in style only! Your challenge will be to display high-resolution human images of four people, yours shall be one of them, that have a commonality. Instead of a basketball, you will display the image of what the four persons, you have chosen, have in common. Apply what you have learned and are learning by using image adjustments, layer styles, filter applications and brushes to build a unique and very interesting digital work of art.

Objective:

Create a composite image in Photoshop CS6, using creativity, the skills acquired in Comm. Tech, pencil/paper and the iMac workstation. Also, answer "Yes" to the following evaluation questions, therefore earning 100 points.

Specifications:

  • With paper and pencil, first make a rough sketch of the placement of three other persons that will accompany your image.

  • Add the text for the main title and four sub words/names to sketch.

  • Add sketch of common image front and center of project.

  • Get sketch approved by Mr. Carlton prior to starting project with computer workstation.

  • Final project shall contain the same words and basic layout as final project, be a diligent planner!

After design sketch approval, be seated at a computer station and meet these specifications;

  • Make a new canvas and name it OhMyproject_LastNameFirstNameBlk#

  • The canvas shall be landscape - 11" wide x 8.5" tall", 300 dpi, CMYK.

  • Click on the View pulldown and select Rulers , then setup guides using the rule of thirds to assist with alignment of images

  • The image must include your high-res. photograph i.e. Digital You photo, or another. You may use a camera to take digital images here in the Tech Lab.

  • Download the High Res brush set and load the brushes into Ps.

  • Insert a high-res "thing in common" image in a separate layer and place it above the four human image layers.

  • Open your image and the three others in Ps and transfer it to the main canvas (workspace) that you previously named OhMyproject_LastNameFirstNameBlk#.

  • All images must be cropped using the crop tool before placing it on your main canvas/workspace.

  • Use the inverse command to make easy selections.

  • Make color adjustments and/or replacements for clothing, hair and/or other areas.

  • Use the "Posterize" adjustment under the Image pull-down menu to enhance human images.

  • Try the "Photo filter" adjustment under the Image pull-down menu to enhance human images.

  • Apply filters to each images in it's own layer.

  • High-Res splatter brushes can be downloaded by clicking on the arrow below.

  • Load Brushes into the Brush palette.

  • Apply splatter brushes to separate layer(s) as the background images.

  • Use at least five text layers and group them in the layers palette in a group called “text”

  • Add other images of real humans, NO cartoons, that have something in common with you.

  • Create a shadow of at least one of the images or text using a gradient tools, multiple shadows may be beneficial.

  • Save the image as a .psd called (OhMyproject_LastNameFirstNameBlk#)

  • Add the final project as a .jpg image to your Prezi.

  • Save the image as a .jpg too - this one you will email to the instructor for grading by December 7, 2015.
