Kibbles

Overseas Kibble Chart - This is not one of our charts, so we have no quality control. (We do not use ferret.edu’s chart for the US because of the way foods are ranked; with no concern for ingredient splitting. Its simply not as accurate as ours in terms of ranking based off MEAT protein)

Kibbles For Your Ferret

A great article from Catinfo about why Prescription diets (Hills, Science Diet, Royal Canin, ect) are bad. (Remember, your ferret is an obligate carnivore, like a cat!)

Does Kibble Clean Teeth?

By Holly

No. Tartar and plaque build up in their teeth (just like humans!) so brushing is required. When my boy was on kibble, I would brush daily. Kibble-fed ferrets MUST have their teeth brushed, since the kibble is dry and absorbent and has carbs, and will sit on the teeth - especially the gum-line. More info on cleaning your ferret's teeth can be found under Grooming > Teeth.

Mixing Kibbles for Proper Fat Percentages

How to use a Pearson Square to determine how much of each food in a mix you need to meet a certain requirement. <3 Since it's more common to see low-fat foods than low-protein, I'm using fat in this example. However, you can also use this to determine it for protein, fiber, etc. It's commonly used for dairy cows.

This is more complex when you have more than two foods, unfortunately; the diagrams are for a mix consisting of two foods only.

THE NUMBER IN THE BOX HAS TO BE BETWEEN THE NUMBERS OF THE TWO FOODS. IT CANNOT BE HIGHER THAN BOTH OF THEM OR LOWER THAN BOTH OF THEM.

Kibbles used here are an example, you need your own chosen kibbles percentages here to get the right outcome.
