Tea made from Redsand is a stimulant with the average dose having the effects of something between a few cups of coffee and a small hit of an amphetamine. Higher doses for faster onset are typically snorted. Few side effects exist at small doses, aside from intense headaches when coming down. Chronic users can be spotted by their red-tinted teeth (generally less noticeable, but gums as well). Overdose of the drug is difficult as many are stricken with chest and head pain too severe to continue using after a certain point, though the rare overdose does cause organ failure; usually the heart and liver.
Redsand is produced from the flowers of a specific desert cactus. The supply dropped off dramatically after the fall of the Dune Kingdom, but has since regained popularity due to cultivation of the cactus in the north.

Xantham is typically considered a trash root and fed to livestock as it is mildly toxic to humanoids but not animals. It is common and grows in most areas, so many unscrupulous types will harvest wild plants and use them to poison potential victims, putting them into a harmless daze while their possessions are stolen.
Small doses cause indigestion, graduating with higher doses into disorientation, unconsciousness, then heart failure. Luckily, it has a very potent bitter taste when ground up and is difficult to hide in drinks.
Oddly, a small amount of Allspice removes the toxicity and creates a very unique tasting mint-like tea. It has been described as a having notes of chocolate, mint, citrus, and maple.
Status: Illegal, grows in wild, small fine for possession without a license
Not to be confused with the real-life allspice, this rare and extremely valuable root is a favorite of the wealthy elite. The root can only be cultivated in one place across all of Feredas: the Hastati Swamp located north of Tretaria, close to the Ironbarks.
This unassuming ginger-like root is in fact a very potent (some say semi-magical) flavoring agent. It will bring out and intensify the flavor of any food it is placed in to an incredible extent, going so far as to make an average old potato taste like a treat from the Gods themselves. It is not addictive in the regular sense, as it has no physical or mental aftereffects. For those that can afford it, however, eating it regularly can make normal food seem bland and tasteless in comparison.
Status: Legal, Valued at around 500 gold per pound
An illusion-attuned Arcanium crystal is ground up and combined with tobacco and smoked. Depending on the strength of the illusion magic placed into the crystal, the user experiences increasingly potent hallucinations, usually in a dream-like viewing of one's past experiences. The smoke can appear as multiple colors when exhaled, generally dependent on the users mood.
Chronic users tend to have glassy eyes and have issues distinguishing reality from dreams or illusions. Overdosing can render users comatose until detoxxed or healed. Withdrawal symptoms include the shakes, a powerful sense of paranoia, and low-grade hallucinations, generally seeing things out of the corner of your eye no matter where you look.
Status: Illegal, difficult to enforce due to legality of main ingredients
