Ascended are beings of pure psychic energy. Nearly all Ascended are members of the group of the same name.

Becoming an Ascended

First, someone must be a well learned psychic or wizard. Then, either enlist or be recruited into a group. After some time of meditation and study, they will be sent to Aviloth. Once there, they will fill themselves with massive amounts of knowledge. This will strengthen their abilities to the point where they no longer need physical forms. And so they depart their bodies and begin their final step. They enter a secret chamber that has only one book, The Book of Knowing. Unbound from their physical forms, the forbidden knowledge within the book does not drive them insane or kill them. After this they return to Aboden as Ascended.
