Reproduction

There are four ways in which Angels are born, a process called "Reforging." The first is through the conversion of a spirit from Aboden. When an Alysian user dies, their magical essence is absorbed by Alysium. It is then transformed into an angle by "midwives," one from each domain. For a time, one spirit was used to make one angel. After the death of the Archangel of justice, the Archangel of Purity became the ruler and changed the process. He ordered that only Purity angels would be involved in reforging, and secretly began forging multiple angels from single spirits.

The second method is a near-sexual reproduction, although anywhere from two to seven angels may take part in it. The angels will bind together their essences and create a "heart spark." This is given to the midwives who will craft it into an angel.

If the heart spark is not given to the midwives, it will develop into an angel over time. This is the method used by the animalistic, unintelligent angels.

The fourth and final method is known as Ambiance. Alysium is slowly growing by absorbing energy (psychic) from the Aether. This energy will often create the animal races but occasionally forms intelligent angels. This is rare, but nearly always creates a new breed of angel.

The breed which an angel will be is determined by the midwives for the first two, or by random chance for the latter two. The formation of new breeds is impossible by the midwives, but the Archangels are able to do so on occasion.

Infidelity

Once any number of Angels have bonded, they are bound for life. If they bond with someone outside of their group or even without everyone in their group, they will produce corrupted Heart Sparks. The Sparks can not be forged by Midwives and develop oddly. While they were treated well under Justice, their parents would often be killed as punishment. Under Purity, there is extreme racism against them

Hierarchy and Naming

All breeds of angels are grouped into rings based on their power and means of creation. The rings are:

1. Archael = The Archangels. they are the most powerful and only six exist.

2. Alseraph = The 1^st of the Seraph. They are those bound to Archangels that create the Seraph

3. Seraph = The commanders and most powerful generals, children of Archangels

4. Carinum = children of Seraph or other Carinum, higher echelon warriors.

5. Namis = "pure" Opharim who were never formed from mortal spirits.

6. Opharium = standard angels. Made from humans, bred with other Opharium. The original masses of angels were of this kind.

7. Kytorins = Those born of unforged heart sparks. They were originally grouped into the circle into which they were born, normally Opharium.

8. Exousin = Those intelligent angels born from Ambience. were originally grouped by their power level.

9. Archai = Formed from the fracturing of mortal spirits. they are weak and somtimes unintelligent.

10. Ralion = Angels born from adulterous breeding.

11. Ravala = most animals

12. Avala = small, formless beasts

An Angel's name is given upon its birth by a Welcomer. Names are given in the Elysian language rather than High Speech, and each letter carries a deep meaning about who the Welcomer sees the angel will become. Each ring other than Archael, Ralion, and the beasts has a special suffix:

1. Alseraph = -al; ex. Kerdonal

2. Seraph = -ion; ex. Menlonion

3. Carinum = -ium; ex. Vaemirium

4. Namis = -in; ex. Nomphin

4. Opharium = -iel; ex. Nidriel

5. Kytorins = -us; ex. Lemilus

6. Exousin = -ia; ex. Drethia

7. Archai = -ior; ex. Fulnior

Racism

Following the death of the Archangel of Justice, the Archangel of Purrity siezed power. He added three new circle (Kytorin, Exousin, and Archai) to hold what he viewed were "impure" angels. He also formed Namis to honor the Opharium who had never used mortal spirits within their lineage. The first five circles began refering to themselves as Alysians rather than Angels. The trials to ascend groups to Namis were hard and killed many angels.
