Hi! I'm Julie Ryan. I am a digital learning ambassador who advocates for students and faculty through quality improvement initiatives. I have a passion for learning, and supporting all those who seek to pursue it. I am well versed in instructional design strategies, however, my primary focus is on helping faculty develop a personalized student-centered toolkit that is easy to adapt, implement and maintain.
I have over thirteen years of experience in the educational technology field working in academic, IT and library settings. I have held many titles over the years, but I have really come to enjoy the challenge of taking on a leadership role in distance education. I also like to spend time partnering with faculty and students in course development. I understand the importance of fostering strong relationships with subject matter experts and I am an expert at wrangling their content into effective course design for face to face, hybrid, and online modalities. I have experience working in multiple learning platforms including Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard and D2L.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, I am adept at balancing the complexities of being a user advocate and technology ambassador. I am passionate about using technology to create opportunities and experiences that wouldn't otherwise exist, to eliminate barriers to learning, and to empower people through initiatives such as digital literacy training.
I am at my best when I have the opportunity to learn new things, share ideas, and contribute to the greater good through the work I do. I love tinkering, ah-ha moments, random acts of kindness. Outside of work, I enjoy being active with my family who keep me centered. I have had the opportunity to live in many places across the US including California, Texas, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Through the years I have gained an appreciation for diversity, creativity, and change in both my personal and professional life.
