The Alliance of the Sun represents both a divine alliance of the beneficent gods, and the loosely organized cults and organizations that follow these gods.
The Alliance of the Sun was founded in response to the Oathbreakers. A new god called the Prophet appeared, calling the gods to task for their misdeeds. He began with Undeafeatable Nomos, the strongest god of Charyastos. Nomos admitted his misdeeds, and the Prophet called him the Adjudicator. He would lead the gods. With him, he brought his daughter Tythia, Bloody Justice.
Nomos gathered other gods about them in a conclave in Charyastos. Those who stayed sent a delegation to the Mother of Storms, and she called them the Alliance of the Sun. Some with unknown gods. Some were terrible gods. A few were Oathbreakers who changed sides.
The Alliance declared the Crusade of Light against the Oathbreakers, and so began a long and bloody war. Many gods on each side died. Eventually, both sides met in the penultimate Battle of Lagan. The Alliance won the day, breaking the Oathbreaker cause.
Since that victory, the Alliance of the Sun has held sway as the primary gods of the land.
As war is fought in heaven, so it is fought on earth. Terrible warlords, following terrible gods, inexorably conquered the world. It was only with the Prophet that men, elves, and dwarves found any hope. Soon the holy men declared that the beneficent gods had allied together, and all good men should do the same. Many kingdoms met in conclave in Charyastos, and they enjoined themselves to the Alliance of the Sun. They would fight on earth as in heaven.
The prosecuted the war until they won the Battle of Lagan.
Following the Crusade of Light, the Alliance of the Sun collapsed under its own staggering debt and the ambitions of its own mercenary armies. Peace would not be established until a warlord called Thule defeated all enemies to become the Emperor of the World.
Today, the Alliance of the Sun remains the ideal of the land. The gods that most people know are worship are gods of the Alliance. The alliance has lost members over time. Destiny was murdered, and even the gods don't know why. Her death heralded the collapse of the human empires, and the return of some Oathbreaker gods.
The Alliance was further weakened by the emergence of two philosophies: Transgressionism and Axiism. Although both philosophies held themselves loyal to the Alliance and its ideals, their bitter rivalry triggered numerous conflicts.
In worldly respects, Alliance has no practical temporal force. Each temple, cult, or society dedicated to the Alliance operates on its own.
With the return of some Oathbreaker gods, who now called themselves Bloodletters, some Alliance organizations have created a secret society called the Golden Circle. They are busily countering the Bloodletters as they can, and organizing for a war that they believe inevitable.
