Uma

About

Uma is a quiet land, mostly abandoned. The territory abounds in ancient temples and lost lore. Many scholars come here to seek the wisdom of the past.

History

Uma was among the greatest of all cities in antiquity. According to their histories, their land was threatened by a great cataclysm. The three goddesses The White Lady, the Red Lady, and the Wild Woman, built a large ship and sailed until they found a new land. They settled in Uma. There, they met the followers of Sonoren, and together built cities together.

Among their unique pieces of knowledge that the humans brought with them were the irreproducible Uma Gates. These came from their old land, and even wise Sonoren did not know how to make them.

One of Uma's city, Aq, became so beautiful that the god King of Air, Astreaus, picked up the city and took it with him. That city became the legendary Astrea.

The land of Uma prospered until Imperial times when her population of agricultural dwarves, called Loam, left to live in the new Great Dwarven Union. Humans, unable to maintain the complicated dwarven fields, saw their farmlands collapse, and the country fell into ruin, leaving nothing but fishermen and goats.

During the collapse, Emperor Thule seized the Uma gates, scattering them about his empire. He also seized everything valuable that he could.

The Sages of Uma were possibly the most accomplished practitioners of high magic, creating stunning works. As time has passed, those constructs have slowly disintegrated, releasing their energies into the world. The land of Uma is now a warped desert, warping the creatures that live there.
