EP NOTABLE 'LASTS'...

LAST Studio Posed Photo 45 Picture Sleeve... THE WONDER OF YOU / Mama Like The Roses 1970

Note the A&B sides cropping & superimposed roses compared to the Rare Master Original (Center).

Although used for a 1970 single, the picture is from a scene taken in 1967 for "Speedway" that was omitted from the film!

Using the same pic on Both sides of the sleeve with superimposed Roses & thumb-slot on Mama Liked The Roses side, RCA intended 'Mama' to be the 'A' side! They didn't expect a 'Live' song to end up #1 & 'Song Of 1970' in the UK, as well as Top 10 US & Worldwide!

The King's LAST 'POSED' Pic! Feb. 3, 1976 Graceland

As it was regulation to have a current I.D. photo, Elvis gets his Memphis Police Reserve Captain I.D. picture taken during the 2nd day of his recording sessions at Graceland on February 3, 1976. Noteworthy, The King recorded only "Solitaire" on this day!

The 1st pic is the rarely seen released pic that Elvis choose for his I.D. 2nd & 3rd pics are the same, cropped differently. Although the King looked great, especially for 1976, ERR thinks the King should've picked pic 3... less pouting, no squinting & looking straight into the camera without reflection.

Mind-boggling that this was the Last & Only time that the Most Photographed Person On Earth, sat for a Posed Picture since 1969! Ironically, it wasn't even for music/movie purposes! With a lil TLC, this would've made a great & appropriate Cover for Moody Blue LP!

Last pic on the same day, The King with 2 of Memphis' Finest outside Graceland. (Note, EP added a necklace after the photoshoot. From the unsnapped stomach button, looks to us like he woofed down a couple of peanut butter & banana sandwiches & a banana split or 2! Man, I gotta take a King size dump! Anybody check to see if theirs TP by my throne? Better make it 2 rolls! Have the plunger ready! The recording session can wait... a constipated King can't sing! After I knock it out & blow the bowl outta the ground, I want a pound of sizzlin' bacon!;)

This last known photo of Elvis was taken on August 16, 1977 at 12.28am. The picture was snapped as he is pulling into Graceland after a night out. That afternoon Presley was found on his bathroom floor by "fiancée", Ginger Alden. According to the medical investigator, Presley had “stumbled or crawled several feet before he died”; he had apparently been using the bathroom at the time. Death was officially pronounced at 3:30 pm at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

FYI-Interesting Fact: Elvis had visited his dentist on August 15th to have a temporary crown put in and has been suggested that the codeine the dentist gave him that day resulted in an anaphylactic shock that assisted in his death because he had suffered allergic reactions to the drug previously.

Hmmmm... Interesting fact indeed! ERR did Not know this! Did you??

6/9/72 NYC: His parting words as he left his last press conference were:

 "I hope I haven't bored you". 

8/77: His supposed last words to anyone outside of Graceland were to his first cousin and assistant, Billy Smith over the phone.  Referring to his upcoming series of concerts...

“this is gonna be my best tour ever”.

8/15/77: Elvis’ last songs. After playing a round of racquetball, Elvis sat down at the piano in the racquetball court (still there to this day) and played two songs... 

‘Blue Eyes Cryin’ In The Rain’ & ‘Unchained Melody’.  Then went upstairs to his bedroom.

8/16/77 Graceland: The King's Last Meal... 4 scoops of Sealtest ice cream, 2 scoops each peach & vanilla & 6 Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies. After that, he went to bed, and then got up a few hours later to go to the bathroom, where he suffered a heart attack.

8/16/77: Reported final words spoken to supposed fiancée Ginger Alden, who, after seeing Elvis heading into the bathroom with a book ('The Shroud Of Turin'), said, "Don't fall asleep in there."

“Okay, I won't.”
