Overview:
These lively and characterful animals primarily live in water, but sometimes also wander on the land. They are attracted by Avatars because they are curious and because they need avatars in order to reproduce.
Food:
This creature is a herbivore that feeds on Vegetable. This creature uses two versions of the EWG eating standard, the v1 to eat leaf food from vegetables and the v2 to offer prim food to predators.
Behaviours:
His energy is low at birth but grows as he eats Vegetables, for this reason it is important for Octo to find food in the early moments of his life. Behaviour is driven by energy levels with a small proto-brain that decides when it has eaten enough.
Reproduction:
This animal reproduces one offspring at a time. Reproduction is triggered by avatar touch and the color of the touched animal has a role to play in the choices made by avatars with regard to which colour they find most attractive.
Evolutionary theory aspects
This digital organisms reproduction is dependent on the choices made by Avatars in terms of which one they find most attractive and then touch, rendering Darwin's theory of Sexual Selection as the major evolutionary mechanism at work in this organism's reproduction. As with Sexual Selection in the organic world, other factors such as proximity, first one encountered, and other random events must also be factored in, but nonetheless, a significant proportion of the reproduction happens to one individual animal rather than another because it was selected as being more attractive than another one was.
Development history:
Octo has come trough a variety of roles, because he is so neat and seems to fit everywhere. It used to be a flying octopus feeding on tree fruits or a noise making critter that lived in water.
Future developments:
In the future the color will be inherited from parent with a random little error. The color is generated at birth and has an important function in reproduction.
Escaping from predators is not implemented yet, but will be part of the brain one day.
