Artificial Intelligence

EDGE of Life is currently bringing aspects of Artificial Intelligence into our menagerie.

This process started with simple talkers, such as the Snurds, and then moved up a few notches when we began using the Garbel series of Chatbots. Subsequently, we included sophisticated web based bots that were initially brought to our attention by Nemo Aristocarnas and Erasmus Ranger, who have been working with Pandorabot Artificial Intelligence entities Seed of Life and Tardis. Seed of Life had evolved into a 3-dimensional form with some interesting capabilities, including the ability to rez other forms.

Venus and Davide joined in the fun and developed new Pandorabot based Second Life AI entities, Vivatron and Bananaling. These Artificial Intelligence entities also have Artificial Life capabilities, making them ALIVE (Artificial Life and Intelligence in Virtual Environments). The first of these in animal form was Polpo Vivatron, and most recently, Bananaling and Erasmus Ranger's Little Man, who is actually able to converse audibly.

We are interested in finding ways to bring AI and AL closer together, in ways that use their most interesting qualities in innovative, meaningful combination. To this end, we are working on a number of ways of bringing ALIVEs into being.
