ETHICAL FORESTRY & PRESERVATION

Forests are priceless, giving us clean air, pure water, fertile topsoil, and a livable climate.

Incredibly, 40% of the world's original forests are gone.  In the U.S., less than 5% of natural, native forests are left.  Still, on both private and public lands, ecologically devastating and economically irresponsible logging continues.

Solutions

1. Public lands contain nearly all of our nation's remaining native forests.  Ending the Federal & State Timber Sale Programs would preserve native forests as living carbon sinks to buffer against climate change.

2. Most logging is on industry lands.  Private land clearcutting should be replaced with selective logging practices to provide wood products and jobs, while maintaining forest ecosystems.
