I can see now that Ayl has a plan that I am not privy to, and all parts, good and bad are for greater purpose. If it had not been for my Dad's "illness" (for that is what I truly see his violent streaks as, an illness brought on by the poison of alcohol,) They would have surely broken me last night. Time after time they beat me (and I must assume the mute girl as well) into unconsciousness. Tuesday was never ending. After the drinking, being set upon by the Hounds, and then unintentionally immolating one of the enemy, I decided that perhaps Ayl, who still grants me the ability to heal, no longer wants me to humbly step aside while the strong prey upon the weak all around me. It was time to step up, and that meant taking our strength to the hounds to once and for all end their petty harassments and their grabs for power. They are being aided by someone, of that I am sure, or rather they were being aided by someone, whether that was the family or the ghost faced killers or some other force I do not know, anyway, we noisily eliminated them with a show of power that was probably foolish, in hindsight, less flashy flash might be advisable. Anyway, on their way out that last fleeing hounds members seem to have taken out a watcher on the rooftop. I heard her grunt as one of the hounds ran past, which combined with the fall she had just taken knocked her out. Now it is true she was wearing the mask of a ghost faced killer, but the mask was broken, and singed on the broken edges, it seemed to me that it had been broken a long time ago. The child was skinny and young, I didn't think she had the look of a killer about her so I tried to heal, but as I was doing so, Katya stabbed her in the chest very nearly putting her beyond my ability to heal. I'm afraid I lost it bit. It is surprisingly annoying to have someone stab the very person you are trying to heal. I'm afraid my father blood took hold of me and I attacked Katya. I lashed out at her in anger, which is ironic since I'm pretty sure my destiny is to protect her and keep her alive so she can lead our ragtag band of gifted youth. She was yelling about the Ghost Faced Killers and she seemed convinced this scrawny child could kill the seven of us with a mere thought is she regained consciousness. Her fear seemed to border on superstition. I only wanted answers and I was sure I was right, sadly no answers were forthcoming as when the girl did regain consciousness, she could not speak. That seems so obvious now considering the wicked scar across her throat. Well long and short of it, she and I were captured by the guards, but fortunately we were the only ones. I could not talk our way out of it, though if I had known what was coming maybe I would have tried harder. All night Scribbles (what I'm calling her for now) and I were beaten, we received no food, no place to relieve ourselves, and no care after the beatings. If we regained consciousness we were beaten again. Then the Witch hunter came along with a knight of Ayl she questioned us. I didn't dare lie, but nothing I said could lead the witch hunter to my friends. I left out all mention of Flat Jack's and simply didn't mention that I new their names, indeed had been friends with one of them most of my life. They said they would be back and I would lead them to these kids who could cast. It was my intention to lead them to the bar where Will was hired and ask when their new hire would be back for work. If I remember correctly Will doesn't work again until Saturday morning, that should buy me some time while they wait for the week end to roll around, and maybe give Will some time to hear about their visit and possibly not show up for work. It was a long shot and I knew it. Fortunately we don't have to test the theory. The gang ran a distraction (I wasn't sure they would given my behavior yesterday) and Scribbles picked the lock on our cell. We tried to outrun the guard but they were in better shape than we were (not surprising, they weren't tied up and beaten all night) so in the end we had to fight. Fortunately we managed to not kill any of them, and to not reveal my gift from Ayl... most of us anyway... Turns out Scribbles has gifts too. The skinny little thing can all but fly! I wonder if that will change Katya's mind about her. Anyway, for now we're free, weaponless, tired and hungry. Now let see if I can repair my friendship with Katya. I can start with an apology, and, if this girl knew Tafari, maybe Berhanu knows her and can confirm that she is no Ghost Faced Killer. But certainly if she is, the tales about them are grossly exaggerated.
