Our assault went well.

We got more than we bargained for.

We five guards, not the two we expected. We got 50 gold, not the few we expected. We got good swords, leather and scale armour, not the clubs and rags we expected. We got heavy hitters, not the pushovers we expected.

We got trouble.

Why this merchant/trader would be walking around with so much coin is any of our guesses right now. What, or how much, would he be buying with this much coin? Or buying off? And that the guards were so well armed and trained is another mystery. While we appreciate the coin, word travels fast. The Family is apparently very angry that someone would have taken this merchant out, which could only mean this merchant was tied in with them somehow, perhaps on their business. There's rumours flying about that devil magic was used during a mugging, likely ours. (Though what could they be talking about there? That we were uncommonly successful?) And we didn't help ourselves by not covering our faces during our adventure, or that an old lady saw us and seems poised to spill some beans, or that some blood was noticed on our clothing on the way home by a passing city guard. Aria's quick talking let us pass there, but who knows if 2 and 2 will be put together. The city guard is offering a reward that is double our take for information about us, another weird cog in these gears that seem to be meshing together. Could it be related to the brazen rise of the Black Cloaks?

I think we enjoy the security of some great amount of coin. I don't think we enjoy the larger world we might have just dropped in to.
