You've never seen her. Alex the Crow has, but you never have. She's seen you. Some days she and her companion have lain, almost invisible with their sooty colored bodies, for hours on the roof across the street from Flat Jack's watching you lot come and go. Sometimes she goes prowling. Traveling by rooftop, Felina and her furry friends ignore the invisible bonders that mark the edges of neighborhoods. She may prowl for days but she always returns, drawn back, not by Rowf, not by Katya or Desta or Dejen, not by Rex, Will or Brandin or Sedora. The thing that draws Felina back is Berhanu and what she saw that night. She has a memento from that night, three pieces of flat, crescent shaped bits of metal stolen from the ruins of the smithy. Without tangs or handles, no one would call them knives, but they feel good to Felina's fingers. She's sharpened them against the cobbles and they are perfectly balanced for throwing. When she aims at a rat she ever misses. But the real question is, why is she wearing the broken mask from a Ghost Faced Killer and is she working for them or against them?

Felina's Story

Felina was once like any other orphan on the streets of Aylgard. The story of how she became orphaned is lost forever because of one terrible day. Felina had always been able to single out kind souls and one such kind soul had just given Felina a brand new pair of shoes when another street kid sneaked up on her while she slept. He slit her throat and stole her shoes, but before she could bleed out someone found her, a guard. Rather than chase down the thief he choose to save Felina's life instead. He took Felina to a local healer to recover but as soon as she was able Felina took to the rooftops. Since than she has never slept under a roof, worn shoes or acquired anything more valuable than food. By watching cats she learned where to find food and hide from people. She scavenges now rather than begs and avoids people in general. She had become part of a cat clan living in the same neighborhood as Tafari and Berhanu and followed them to the food Tafari left out for them. Eventually she became bold enough to approach Tafari. His kind nature and her own yearning for human contact made interaction possible. In order to find out more of her back story, Tafari began teaching Felina to write. She knows the alphabet, how to write her own name and some other simple words. Berhanu kept trying to get her to accept shoes or nicer clothes until the day she revealed (by pictures and pantomime) the story of what happened to her when she was young. Berhanu and Tafari became the closest thing to family Felina has ever had. She was there when Tafrai was killed. He was not killed in the explosion at the smithy, the explosion was meant as a message to the neighbors. Tafari was killed by ghost faced killers before the explosion in order to sure he was really dead. One of the ghost faced killers lost their mask during the struggle and Felina saw her face, even recognized the woman as the wife of the book merchant Tafari often bought books from. Felina does not know for whether Leona saw her hiding in the shadows but she has been desperate to tell Berhanu for over a year now but for all this time her natural fear has kept her out of Flat Jack's and it's gaggle of ever coming and going peoples and since Berhanu never comes out she hasn't had a chance. She knows all the people from Flat Jack's by sight and many by name as she has been watching them for a little over a year now. She was wearing the mask as proof that she saw the killers face and because she literally has nothing but the rags on her back. One of her clan's cats, who was born into her hands when he was a kitten, stays with her now and shares her meals and protection. And Alex the Crow has been visiting her and getting tidbits of food from her over the past year. If her writing had been better she would have written a message to Berhanu and tied it to Alex's leg. As it was, her attempt to introduce herself to you by aiding you in battle has ended disastrously. Will her life be ended soon by Katya? Will she get her message toe Berhanu?
