Will

Will entered the world quietly, but disastrously, and it has stuck with him throughout his young life.

At the birth of their first and only son, Damien and Lady Buxom realized their lives had taken a dark turn, and that every joy they had from here to the end would likely carry the same dark cloud. Lady Buxom became ill and listless immediately after the birth, having contracted some sort of infection from the dangerous birthing process.

As her name suggests, she had never been a woman of common energy and appearance. She had an extraordinary mind and used her body to get what he wanted. In the Stink, dreams run shallow and bold. Her dream was to run a tavern and she had been doing exactly that, supported fully by her husband, and with him had built a very successful business (as much as these things can go in this place).

Damien, Will's father and Lady Buxom's only lover and lifelong companion, cared only for a family that stuck together and he gave everything he could to supporting his wife's dream and he received such love in return that tales should have been written about it, but none ever were. With Lady Buxom's illness rendering her incapable of running the tavern herself, Damien tried everything he could to keep it going, but unscrupulous business men preyed on him. He had none of Lady Buxom's quick mindedness nor uncommonly attractive physical assets, and the business suffered badly until the sharky businessmen forced it from him. The guilt he had for losing his wife's dream haunts him in every look and touch he shares with her.

Will grew up with a sickly mother and a father who lost the best hope the family had for not starving. Damien's frequent job searches and long days of menial labor wore his father down. Will grew up caring for his mother and trying to make things easier on his father. He was a happy boy until he'd overheard some people mention the origin of his mothers illness was his own birth, and he believed from then on that he was the cause of suffering he saw in life.

As the adventure begins, Will learns that he has been touched in a way that others aren't, finding that his anger has surprising effects on his opponents. In time, he may come to realize that his powers could be used to help eliminate the wrong in the world, and maybe make life a little better for his family and friends from the Stink.

With each passing day, the power grows and the stress at the edges of his young mind lurk in the background, burning his thoughts like embers from a fallen tree.
