Announcements (Updated 6/9)
Here is a sample of four Multiple Choice Problems from last year's Final Exam. Note that Problems 2 & 3 are "conceptual" in that they can be answered without doing any computations; whereas Problems 1 & 4 require computations. You should expect a roughly 50-50 mix of conceptual and computational questions. Also, expect the level of difficulty to vary from somewhat easier to slightly harder than these.
There will be an optional Review Session on Wednesday 6/11 at 2:30 PM in Room 632.
The Final Exam will be Friday 6/13 from 12:40 PM to 2:25 PM (Periods 5 & 6) in Room 622.
Solutions and Statistics for Exam 3 are posted below.
There will not be a Quiz on Friday 6/6.
Tentative Exam Dates
Exam 3: Thursday 5/29 (Note Change!)
Final Exam: Friday 6/13
Solutions and Statistics for Exam 2 are posted below.
PLEASE NOTE IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES FROM THE EXAM 1 REDEMPTION QUIZ
There will be an "Exam 2 Redemption Quiz" sometime between 5/8 and 5/19 (inclusive). The exact date will not be announced in advance. The quiz will be given during the first 12-15 minutes of class (TBD). Late arrivals will not be given extra time, and no make-up quizzes will be given without a doctor's note or equivalent documentation of justified absence. The Quiz will consist of two problems which are substantially similar (but not necessarily identical) to problems from Exam 2. There will be no partial credit - each problem will be awarded either 0 or 9 points, so the only possible scores on the quiz are 0, 9, or 18. In order to receive 9 points on a problem, you will need to use proper mathematical notation, show appropriate and sufficient algebraic work, and get the correct answer. These points will be added directly to your Exam 2 score. Also, copies of the official "Solutions for Exam 2" are not permitted in the classroom until after 5/19. If I happen to see one in your possession on quiz day, you will not be allowed to take the quiz.
Exam 2 will be on be on Friday April 25, and will cover HW 5.7C - HW 6.2B. You will also be expected to be proficient in all the mathematics you have studied from first grade up through and including Exam 1.
There will be a student-led Review Session for Exam 2 after school on Thursday 4/24, in the Library.
There will be a Quiz on Friday 4/11 covering HW 6.2A.
The Quiz Friday will cover only HW 5.10A (but, of course, you may need to use Substitution, Integration by Parts, etc.)
Solutions and Statistics for Exam 1 are posted below.
There will be an "Exam 1 Redemption Quiz" sometime between 3/26 and 4/4 (inclusive). The exact date will not be announced in advance. The Quiz will be given during the first 10 minutes of class. Late arrivals will not be given extra time, and no make-up quizzes will be given without a doctor's note or equivalent documentation of justified absence. The Quiz will consist of two problems selected (by me, verbatim) from Exam 1. There will be no partial credit - each problem will be awarded either 0 or 5 points, so the only possible scores on the Quiz are 0, 5, or 10. In order to receive 5 points on a problem, you will need to use proper mathematical notation, show appropriate and sufficient algebraic work, and get the correct answer. These points will be added directly to your Exam 1 score.
Exam 1 will be on be on Friday March 14, and will cover all the course material through Monday March 10 (HW 5.7B). Wednesday March 12 will be a Homework Day and Thursday March 13 will be a Review Day.
Welcome to Calculus II.
Homework (Updated 6/6)
(Note: You are responsible for all Homework posted and/or updated before 5:00 PM the school day before the due date. Due dates are subject to change, so please check them carefully.)
Some assigned textbook problems have a "calculator graphing" component. That part of the problem (only) is optional; the rest of the problem is required.
