The Power of Yes
I am often thanked and congratulated in my role as a librarian for a great project, presentation, display or program, and I usually say that all that I had to do was say "yes."
Some would argue that I say that word far too often [like Ado Annie in Rogers & Hammerstein's musical Oklahoma], but I cannot argue with the results, which have, invariably, been deeply gratifying. Also, often, the results are not at all matched to my expectations, which happens to be among the many serendipitous fringe benefits of being a "yes sayer."
I wanted to have a space to celebrate the programs and accomplishments made by others that my role in was to say "yes," as much to highlight my good fortune as the achievements of those who have bestowed it upon me.
