Paintings

I started painting sometime in the 1970s, but really only painted during 2 eras: the time at SUNY New Paltz [maybe 1982-84] that I was studying under Ben Bishop, Ken Burge and the REMARKABLE Joop Sanders [and a summer workshop with Wolf Kahn], and then sometime prior to 1992 when I studied watercolor [an NYC apartment is no place for oils] at the Art Students League under the savvy and terrific Fred Wong.

I consider the embroideries and collages that I make as some form of painting, but I still love the ease of the brush [and the water], so I still watercolor when I can withdraw far enough into a quiet place. In most Augusts that was the San Jose backyard of Mom and Jack.
