TRAINING COURSES: UK MOD CONTRACT CONDITIONS & PRICING OF SINGLE SOURCE CONTRACTS

Value for Money

Training courses are normally provided at our clients site as this typically provides the lowest cost per training course participant by avoiding the need for our clients staff to travel to an offsite training location with the associated time and cost penalties. Discounts are available for SMEs having a small number of commercial/contracts staff. We are also able to deliver MoD contract terms and conditions training via Skype for both overseas and UK customers.

We provide the training course direct to the client thus avoiding the markup that is often applied through larger training organisations that do not employ their own training staff and use third parties to provide the training.

Course Quality

Defcon Training Limited has a continual improvement philosophy with respect to its training courses and all training course participants are requested in fill in a short questionnaire at the completion of the training course to provide their feedback on the quality of the course material, the course content, the standard of presentation of the course and the degree to which the course has meet their training objectives such that this can be taken into account in the provision of subsequent training courses.

We currently provide the following ten main training courses:

UK MoD Specific Training Courses

• An introductory 2 day training course in Contracting with the UK Ministry of Defence. This course now also addresses the UK MoD recently launched standardised contracting conditions (SC1A, SC1B & SC2). (Note that certain aspects of this course can be shortened/reconfigured if the client has only one day available for staff training).

• A supplementary or standalone 1 day in-depth training course in understanding UK MoD Defence Conditions of Contract (DEFCON'S)  with particular emphasis on worked case examples/studies.

• A half day course training course reviewing the major features of the newly issued UK MoD standardised contracting conditions SC1A, SC1B & SC2.

• A supplementary or standalone 1 day training course in practical aspects of pricing of UK MoD single source contracts. This includes a review of the changes to the existing single source pricing arrangements as a result of the Defence Reform Act (DRA) and the associated Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR).

• A one day course in commercial awareness for engineering and project management staff who  deal directly with the customer at the tendering and project performance stages of a project. The course will also be of interest to sales and marketing staff.

• A one day course in Tendering & Winning UK MoD Contracts. The course will be of interest to all staff who are involved with or responsible for tendering and winning UK MoD contracts.

NON-DEFENCE INDUSTRY SPECIFIC TRAINING COURSES

• A 1 day training course designed to review the essential contract clauses commonly found in business contracts and their relative importance to the buyer and the seller. The course is designed to be applicable to all industry sectors.

• A half day training course designed to provide delegates with an overview of intellectual property(IP), the main types of IP having legislative protection and the steps normally taken in contracts to protect and exploit intellectual property.
