Turkey River
With the heavy rains this year, the Turkey River in NE Iowa has made national news due to the impact of flooding in it's upper watershed. As a tributary that empties into the Mississippi River across from Cassville, Wisconsin, I have found this place to be one of inspiration; especially when I explored the elongated horizontal formats in my art. This page documents a few of my paintings drawn from this area.

This is the first painting in the Turkey River series. The area is located in Iowa near the Turkey's junction with the Mississippi River by Cassville, Wisconsin. Combining both river and agricultural themes is a natural direction for my work. The overall image makes significant overtures to the Golden Section, which underpins the composition.
