Service Learning Programs

Please select the Coastal Education Program you booked for your trip to the Living Coast. We've created activities designed to enhance your students' learning experience both before and after your scheduled field trip. Also included is a program description, standards addressed and a sample of the daily schedule.

Native Garden (TK- 8th)

Students restore the upland habitat by preparing the area and planting native plants. Students learn what plants need to grow, the proper way to plant and how to best care for drought-tolerant plants. Upper grade, (4-hour program) also includes a plant lab where students view different native plants with microscopes.

Beautify the Bay (4th- 8th)

This program provides an opportunity for students to learn how they directly impact their local coastal environment. Students learn about watershed pollution, have up- close encounters with marine animals and participate in a beach clean-up.

Tide-dependent program (This program is most effective during low-tide days and also depends on bird nesting periods. See Ideal Dates Here)
