Scoutbook Plus (formerly known as Internet Advancement) is the BSA's free official tool for advancement record-keeping and reporting. Its primary purpose is to help Scouts, parents, and registered leaders track and report advancement records. From the first knot tied to final hours of service performed, the Scouting experience is a journey like none other. And Scoutbook Plus is your go-to tool to ensures not a moment is missed – tracking advancement, milestone achievements and all the fun along the way.
The Scouting mobile app allows families to track and log their Cub Scout's adventures and advancement, as well as logging service hours, hiking, and camping. The app syncronizes advancement data with Scoutbook and activity logs with Internet Advancement for viewing regardless of whether you have a current internet connection. Once downloaded, use your Scoutbook credentials to login. If you don’t have a Scoutbook account yet, visit scoutbook.scouting.org to create one. To streamline communications, Cub Scout Pack 167 has created a Community on the WhatsApp messaging platform. This functions much like a group text, but allows leaders and families to participate in the groups that are relevant to them without the need to start a new group text every time a member of the group joins or departs. There are groups for each den as well as a Parents General Discussion group for the entire Pack. In addition, there is an announcements channel that allows Pack Leaders to send broadcasts such as event updates to the entire Pack. As of the 2024-25 Program Year, this is an official communications channel for Pack Communications and those who do not participate may miss important communications.
During the unit's annual popcorn fundraiser, the Trail's End mobile app allows families to track their Cub Scout's popcorn sales, inventory, and rewards, register for available storefront shifts arranged by the Pack, process credit card transactions while conducting storefront and door-to-door sales, and manage their Cub Scout's personal fundraising webpage.
Scoutbook is the BSA's legacy tool for advancement record-keeping and reporting. Beginning with the 2024-25 Program Year, several features have migrated to the Scoutbook Plus application including advancement record-keeping, unit calendar functions, and reporting. The transition to Scoutbook Plus is ongoing and some leaders may find use for important features including the email function and certain administrative tasks. For parents just starting with Scoutbook, we recommend using the Scoutbook Plus website or the Scouting Mobile App discussed above.
