Creating Text

Creating Text

When creating Text: - always create as "Floating". If you happen to create as vector, change to a raster layer so you can use effects and the mover tool. You can create text separately from your image, then edit, copy and paste as a new layer on your image.

1. Before typing, be sure to go to layers, new raster layer. This allows you to apply effects to your text. If you apply text directly to your image, you will not be able to apply effects.

2. After you select your style of font and the size, look at the materials palette - foreground and background. Remember the foreground color/pattern/gradient will be the outline color of your text; the background will be your fill color/pattern/gradient.

3. The line style will be how your text is outlined. So if you pick a diamond line, for example, then your text will have a diamond outline.

4. You can use a color, a gradient, a pattern - or even - use a texture for both the outline (foreground) AND the fill (background) for your text.

5. After you type your text, while selected, you can apply an effect. This means you can apply a plug-in effect, blinds, texture, weave or whatever effect your choose.

Example Below:

Notice that the foreground color is solid color red; the background is a white lace texture. In the first example, I used the foreground as lace with a wide line style - in the 3rd example it was used as the background and as a fill 'color'. On the 2nd one, I used a diamond line style for foreground, fill red, then selected letters and used plug in graphic plus - cross shadow.

Also, by being creative with the line style and the foreground and background fill, you can use a simple font. In the example, I used Arial Black on all three.
