Blood Drive

Sunday, March 28, 2021, 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.

Our Lady of the Greenwood, McGivney Hall

Governor Holcomb has told us we are inching closer step-by-step to fully reopening Indiana, but we need to stay vigilant in the fight against COVID-19. Keep in mind that the needs of our parish and community continue.

That’s why we’re rallying around two cornerstones of our communities—blood banks and food banks—by stepping up and ensuring they have everything they need to give back to our neighbors who are in need. Since the start of the pandemic, over 4,000 blood drives have been cancelled nationwide. As elective surgeries resume across Indiana’s hospitals, the need for blood donations are crucial.

On the 28th of March (Palm Sunday), we plan on rolling up our sleeves and partnering with the Indiana Red Cross to hold another blood drive at Our Lady of the Greenwood. The Red Cross has over 135 years of experience providing humanitarian aid, including more than 75 years of supplying blood to those in need.

Did you know?

  • The Red Cross needs to collect more than 13,000 blood donations and more than 2,500 platelet donations each day.

  • The blood collected by the Red Cross is used by patients in hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout Indiana.

  • Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood, from trauma victims to cancer patients to mothers giving birth to premature babies.

  • 84% of blood donations are given at blood drives.

There are many ways you can help, but most importantly, we hope you will donate blood on March 28. Visit RedCrossBlood.org, type in the box titled Find a Blood Drive and enter ourladygreenwood. You will be directed to the scheduling calendar. Choose a donation time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. before or after the Mass you typically attend.
