Faith

As Catholics, we are called to take an active part in building a strong parish, Church and community. our council is positioned to play a key role within Our Lady of the Greenwood and the Greenwood community to answer that call. Church activity programs also enable each member to grow in his faith, become a better husband and father, and set a standard for other Catholic gentlemen.

Programs and projects for 2021:

Community

Councils identify community activity programs designed to address the needs of its citizens. Additionally, today’s youth are the future leaders of our communities and councils. Effective youth activities teach young people valuable life lessons on leadership, responsibility, morality and compassion.

Programs and projects for 2021:

  • Disaster preparedness through enhancing the safety and security of our community, CERT

  • Coats for Kids

  • Soccer challenge

  • Helping Hands (required)

  • Global wheelchair mission

  • Free Throw Championship (January 2021)

  • Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest (Fall 2021)

Life

Knights of Columbus members defend the dignity of each human being at every stage of life. Knights work together to build a culture of life and a civilization of love. Our council stands ready to assist any pregnant woman in need, care for the elderly, aid the handicapped and bring attention to the injustices of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Programs and projects for 2021:

  • Special Olympics – Plane Pull (Fall 2021), Polar Plunge (March 2021)

  • March for Life (January 2021)

  • Ultrasound program

  • Christian Refugee Relief

  • Silver Rose

  • Mass for people with special needs

  • Pregnancy Center support

  • Novena for Life (required)

  • Visitation to the sick and shut-in with the Keenagers

  • The Hispanic community

  • Celebrate Marriage

  • The Rosary Group

Family

In today’s world, with all the demands that life brings, it’s hard to come by quality family time. Children also face similar pressures from school work, sports and other activities. Our Knights of Columbus council offers families a chance to build stronger bonds by bringing family members together in charitable and entertaining activities.

  • Food for Families

  • Family of the Month/Year

  • Keep Christ in Christmas (December 2021)

  • Family Fully Alive

  • Family Week

  • Consecration to the Holy Family (required) – Father’s Day, 2021

Council

Council activities foster a sense of fraternity among our members and families. While much of our charitable work is focused toward the Church and community, there are times when members and families come together to focus on the group. It is through shared goals, faith and a sense of extended family that ties of our members and their families together.
